THIS WINTER, MEGÈVE’S MOST ICONIC HOTEL, LES FERMES DE MARIE, CELEBRATES 30 SPARKLING YEARS

November 14thMEGÈVE

Megève has long been regarded as a timeless winter destination for lovers of authentic luxury, fabulous food and Alpine pursuits. This winter, the iconic hotel where it all began, Les Fermes de Marie, owned by the Sibuet family, will celebrate 30 years. Lauded as one of the most sophisticated and authentic properties in the Alps, Les Fermes de Marie has long been a haven for families, couples and lovers of spa and wellness – offering guests a holistic retreat that captures the magic of the region. Ahead of the 30-year anniversary, several exciting developments from this original outpost of Maisons & Hotels Sibuet have been announced, including the opening of La Ferme de Bacré, a new haven up in the mountains reserved for hotel guests, and delicatessen L’Épicerie des Fermes, along with additions to the Chalets des Fermes collection and new products to join the Sibuets’ renowned Pure Altitude spa range.

ESCAPE TO LA FERME DE BACRE – THE SIBUET FAMILY’S MOUNTAIN HAVEN

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Les Fermes de Marie, the Sibuet family is inviting hotel guests to experience their very own slice of alpine paradise as they throw open the doors to their exclusive family farmhouse. Available from January 2020 exclusively to those staying at Les Fermes de Marie, La Ferme de Bacré is set high in the mountains, a truly in-the-know retreat. On a guided tour, guests cross a mountain stream, snowshoe up the mountain and across magical snow-covered fields to reach the traditional farmhouse, where a feast awaits. The lodge’s cosy interiors, much akin to those found in the Far North with antler ceiling lights and hunting memorabilia, provide the perfect setting for a charming meal amongst family and friends. The private chef is on hand to cook up whatever guests desire, or opt for the Sibuet family classic, potato fritters served alongside white Tomme cheese and local cured meats, with blueberry tart for dessert. A transfer can be arranged back down the mountain, or more daring diners can experience a sledge ride back to the resort.

INDULGE IN MOUNTAIN DELICACIES AT L’EPICERIE DES FERMES

Opening December 2019, the Sibuet family have taken over the iconic ‘Épicerie des 5 rues’ in the heart of Megève, retaining the building’s long history as an authentic grocery store. L’Épicerie des Fermes will be filled with the best of French, Italian and Savoyard produce, specially selected by the Sibuet family for their quality and seasonality. From exquisite cheeses, cured meats, home-made jams and artisan pasta, to rich hot chocolate and a fabulous selection of fine wines and spirits in the cellar, the team at L’Épicerie des Fermes are on hand to help guests find the perfect ingredients for their next French feast. Open all year round, L’Épicerie des Fermes will also offer a home delivery service so that guests can call ahead and have everything ready in their chalets for arrival.

GET A TASTE FOR THE SIBUET MOUNTAIN LIFESTYLE WITH LES CHALETS DES FERMES

This winter, Les Fermes de Marie has selected some of the most beautiful chalets in Megève and the surrounding area to add to its collection of properties for rent, Les Chalets des Fermes. With all the charm of Les Fermes de Marie service and a dedicated concierge service, Chalets des Fermes offer guests the exclusive Sibuet mountain lifestyle combined with ultimate comfort. Slip on fur-lined slippers and enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast of matured cheeses, hams and a selection of buttery pastries. Each chalet has a dedicated ski room and ski guide who will provide guests with the latest gear, ready to hit the slopes. After a long day out slaloming, a Skier’s Massage or Alpine Energy Ritual can be arranged by one of the nimble-fingered Fermes de Marie masseurs, or head to enjoy the facilities at the hotel’s Pure Altitude spa, one of the largest in the Alps. In the evenings, each chalet’s chef will be on hand to prepare the most exquisite meals, whether guests are in the mood for braised shoulder of beef or something a little more comforting like truffle macaroni. To accompany cosy dinners in the chalet, guests can choose from the wine cellar, pre-stocked to their exacting taste by the hotel’s sommelier.
