Celebrate The Proms at The Kensington

July 24thLONDON

Throughout the duration of The Proms 2017, The Kensington continues to celebrate the best of classical music, with a host of musically inspired offerings, for both hotel guests and members of the public to enjoy.

A spectacular floral installation by William Clarke greets guests on arrival at The Kensington. Spanning the entire exterior, a crescendo of greenery, entwined with decorative musical notes, violins and even a piano entirely covered in grass and flowers, invites guests into the enchanting world of The Proms.

Outdoor seating space at the entrance of the hotel allows visitors to relax in the perfect summer setting, with a glass of Champagne, or one of the five specially created musically inspired cocktails, available throughout The Proms. These include the likes of ‘Nicola Beneditti’: Dalmore, Ardmore, lemon juice, ginger and honey syrup and ‘Andre Previn’: 207 gin and Balzahar red. Every Friday and Saturday evening, as of 28th July, The Kensington will up the tempo with a rotating musical duo, named The City String Ensemble, performing an array of both classical and current favourites.

Those attending The Proms at Royal Albert Hall, who are looking to make the occasion even more memorable, can opt for the four-course menu, with wine pairings, designed exclusively in honour of the event. Town House Executive Chef Steve Gibbs has created a symphony of seasonal summer delights, including: ‘Heirloom tomato & elderflower consommé’ with Dorset crab parcels and a lemon salsa verde, ‘Burratina di Puglia’ with watermelon, caramelised beetroot and jasmine honey, ‘Josper grilled poussin’ with purple sprouting broccoli, Jersey Royals, and salsa verde and finally ‘Fruits of the forest parfait’ with vanilla foam and lime sorbet.

This menu will be available at The Kensington at Town House restaurant for the duration of The Proms, however those really looking to impress, can book the hotel’s exclusive Portico (for the first time), ideal for a romantic summer meal with a loved one. The Portico is a private, heated outdoor terrace, where couples or friends can dine al fresco, overlooking London’s Royal Borough.

As part of The Doyle Collection’s ‘Slice of the City’ initiative, The Kensington is an official partner of the Royal Albert Hall. The Kensington aims to immerse their guests in the local culture in each city and provide them with insider access to the capitals most desirable sites, shows and exhibitions.

HOW: The Proms 2017 menu can be enjoyed throughout the run of The Proms, available now until 9th September at £50 per person or £85 with wine pairings. The duo of live violinists will be playing at the hotel every Friday and Saturday evening from 6pm – 8pm from 28th July – 9th September 2017.
