BEST FOR:  CULTURED COUPLES

TAKE IN THE RICH CULTURE AND HISTORY OF SRI LANKA
PAIRED WITH ADVENTUROUS TRIPS TO NATIONAL PARKS & RUINS OF ANCIENT CIVILISATIONS

This bespoke itinerary travels through Sri Lanka in style and begins with one night to rest and relax at The Wallawwa on Sri Lanka’s West Coast. From here, travellers are whisked away to the Cultural Triangle with a private guide and chauffeur, where they will spend next three nights at Ulagalla. To enjoy this spectacular part of the country, a cycling trip through the UNESCO heritage site of Anuradhapura is included and guests can discover the fantastic ancient ruins of Sri Lanka’s first kingdom. An early morning excursion to the Sigiriya Rock whilst it is still cool and the light is beautiful is also included. Guests will then travel down to Kandy, where they will stay for the next two nights at the charming Kandy House, which features some of the best food to be found in the country. From Kandy House, again with a private guide, they will venture out to visit the Temple of the Tooth, the Botanical Gardens and the Commonwealth War memorial – all major historical sites in Sri Lanka’s repertoire. Next, couples will travel by train to the beautiful Hill Country and the famous Ceylon Tea Trails, where they can relax in colonial splendour, discover the history of the country’s greatest export and trek through the lush plantations. A highlight is walking around enjoying the verdant undulating countryside and watching the talented pickers at work before reclining in style while enjoying a traditional tea planter’s picnic lunch. Travellers will then fly south to Yala National Park, staying at Wild Coast Tented Lodge, offering a wildlife experience like no other, where the Indian Ocean meets the jungle.  Guests can spend their days out on safari drives, and in the evenings relax with dinner and drinks under the stars. The itinerary will conclude in Weligama on the south coast where travellers will stay at Cape Weligama.
