The hotel made its debut this summer as the first contemporary five-star hotel of the region and with this prestigious accolade, Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa has become a game changer in the area. Hailing a new era in Champagne’s culinary scene, Le Royal preserves French know-how while injecting a contemporary touch in traditional cuisine.
Led by Chef Jean-Denis Rieubland – Meilleur Ouvrier de France and already a two-star Michelin chef – Le Royal is becoming one of Champagne’s most celebrated culinary addresses. Chef Rieubland, former executive Chef of Le Negresco Chantecler at the Negresco Hotel in Nice, brought to Champagne his sun-kissed signature cuisine. The menu, which changes every season combines Champagne’s terroir with Mediterranean freshness. A firm believer in organic food, Chef Rieubland works closely with local producers.
Jean Denis Rieubland comments on his first Michelin star: “I am delighted with the distinction of this Michelin Star, obtained in such a short period of time. It is the result of a combination of passion, good ingredients, and know-how, creating a truly unique experience.”
The Michelin Star is the most widely internationally recognised hallmark of fine dining quality in restaurants and the most sought-after accolades by Chefs. Michelin awards up to three stars based on experts’ anonymous reviews, which concentrate on quality, mastery of technique, personality and consistency of the food.
Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa opened in July 2018. The hotel boasts an enviable location, situated on Champagne UNESCO Heritage Site, right in the middle of the vineyards that stripe the hills of Epernay and the historic villages of Champillon and Hautvillers, birthplace of Champagne. Reimagining a wine-country retreat for all seasons, local Reims-based architect, Giovanni Pace designed the property in the style of a contemporary amphitheatre, incorporating the original 19th Century Post House, where it is said that King Charles X of France stopped over before heading to Reims for his coronation.
