June 2022: Deserving of its accolade as a foodie city, guests will be in awe of the high level of cuisine Malta is proud to offer with Michelin starred highlights in the capital city of Valletta and its many rural delicacies in the beautiful countryside. The next day, guests will meet their expert guide at their hotel, The Phoenicia, and enjoy a peaceful walk along the harbour edge to the Upper Barrakka Gardens, with stunning views over the Grand Harbour and the Three Cities beyond. Here, travellers will discover the rich history and culture of Valletta with its many rulers and the prominent Knights of St John. Following a fascinating day, the evening will not disappoint. Another Michelin starred delight awaits in the evening at Under Grain, located at the luxury boutique hotel, Rosselli. Classic dishes have been reinvented into contemporary works of art, introducing the combination of new ingredients with farm to table meats. Next, guests will be taken into the countryside to a bijou olive farm for an immersive cooking course allowing them to make their own  famous and traditional Maltese snack, pastizzi. A hot, flaky savoury pastries traditionally filled with either ricotta or curried mushy peas. After lunch guests will be taken to one of the most respected vineyards on the island, Ta’ Betta, for a private tasting of their fine wines. A trip to the beautiful courtyard of the Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux hotel is an absolute highlight as another Michelin dining experience awaits. The tasting menu at De Mondion boasts an impeccable service to match and is consistently rated amongst the top restaurants in Malta.

DISCOVER THE HISTORIC LOCATIONS OF MALTA’S STORIED PAST WITH A BEHIND-THE-SCENES CITY TOUR – INCLUDING A VISIT TO SALUTING BATTERY AND HIDDEN WAR HEADQUARTERS

During the tour, guests will learn how Malta was key to the success of World War II; visiting hidden war headquarters, great War Museums, Fort St Angelo, and the National Library all led by expert guides. Beginning in the capital city Valletta, guests will stay for four nights at the beautifully restored 17th century palazzo, Domus Zamittello. The next day, guests will take a trip to the Saluting Battery, located on one of the best vantage points overlooking the Grand Harbour before being taken through an underground complex of tunnels and chambers of the Lascaris War Rooms that housed the War Headquarters from where the defence of Malta was conducted during the World War. The following day, travellers will be guided through the Harbour Cities of World War II. A traditional Maltese boat will be waiting at the Old Custom House, ready to take guests over the Grand Harbour to the city of Vittoriosa in the Three Cities. Afterwards travellers will explore the Malta War Museum, housed in an 18th century army barracks which served as a police station and air raid precautions centre during the war. ​​After checking into the exquisite Presidential Penthouse Suite at the Iniala Harbour House hotel, which boasts a balcony with a secluded plunge pool, guests will head to the Iniala’s two Michelin starred restaurant ION The Harbour for a mind-blowing tasting menu.
