ENJOY A WINTER GETAWAY AT GLENEAGLES

Forget juice diets, restrictive eating and high-intensity workouts, to beat this year’s January blues there is no better place to escape to than the 850-acre Gleneagles Scottish estate for a weekend of fresh air and outdoor adventures, where guests can embrace cosagach, an old Gaelic word for the feeling of being “snug, sheltered and cosy”. It is tipped to be one of 2018’s biggest trends and is Scotland’s answer to the popular Danish concept of hygge.

This winter guests are invited to “discover the playground” with a host of complimentary activities on offer throughout the week, ranging from wine and whisky tasting to scenic carriage rides around the estate and golf taster sessions as well as hand massages in the hotel’s fabulous new art-deco beauty lodge, called “Bob & Cloche”. After discovering the playground guests can return to the hotel’s cosy fireplaces and welcoming bars for a warming winter cocktail at the newly refurbished and decadent 1920s style American Bar with its cashmere lined walls, wool curtains and original marble fireplaces. Simon Attridge, the hotel’s Executive Chef, has developed several new game and shellfish dishes for the winter months, to harness and showcase the wealth of locally-sourced seasonal ingredients on Gleneagles doorstep. Guests can sample these delicious new dishes, with silver service dining at The Strathearn and more relaxed and informal dining at The Birnam Brasserie.

Set beneath the Ochil Hills, in the heart of Perthshire, Gleneagles has been a must visit destination since it opened its doors in June 1924. With its glorious playground of country pursuits, it is an authentically Scottish experience and there are few places in the UK that offer the same breadth of opportunities and activities. There are over 20 fun and alternative outdoor activities to choose from including; clay pigeon shooting and archery, falconry and gundog training, off-road driving, fishing, riding and cycling. Or simply a long walk in the beautiful Perthshire countryside.

Offer runs 8th January – 31st March 2018. All ‘Discover the Playground’ activities are complimentary but must be pre-booked. For residents only.

Rates from £275 per room on a B&B basis
