The hotel will tap into the daily life of the hip Faubourg Montmartre neighbourhood, while offering guests a contemporary, tranquil, green refuge at its heart.  Opening out onto Rue Cadet, La Fantaisie will be not just a destination for travellers, but a meeting place for locals and connoisseurs of the area. La Fantaisie will engage with the local rhythm and village feel of this young and bohemian district in the heart of Paris’s historic centre. There will be 73 rooms and suites, some with balconies and terraces opening out onto views of the city sites or the courtyard garden.  The energy and charm of the neighbourhood will culminate in La Fantaisie’s restaurant and café, opening onto the market street outside. At the hotel’s culinary helm will be the remarkable Dominique Crenn – a creative visionnaire hailing from France, and for whom this will be her homecoming, having spent her career in the USA since the 1980s.  Crenn is renowned for having transformed Californian gastronomy to the point of becoming the first – and only – female chef to be awarded three Michelin stars in the USA.  Her vision leaves no room for compromise, centred wholly around local and sustainable products, and her cuisine at La Fantaisie will adopt a zero plastic and zero waste philosophy.

Almae Collection

International

The new, family-owned Almae Collection, consists of La Nauve Hôtel et Jardin in Cognac, Armancette Hôtel Chalets and Spa in Saint Nicolas de Veroce and Chamonix, and Palazzo Garzoni in Venice.

La Nauve Hôtel et Jardin, previously a Cognac distillery, is a recently transformed belle époque mansion located just outside Cognac, with just the exquisite exterior and facade remaining the same. The twelve, spacious accommodation rooms, including one Junior Suite, all feature delicate furnishings and unique touches such as beds and headboards made using roots of local Sequoia trees. The 12 acre gardens feature a century-old Sequoia tree, a small canal “Jean Simon”, a variety of fruit trees, vegetable garden and rose bushes, the garden leads down to the Charente River, where guests can enjoy the use of a private boat and canoes, as well as an alfresco pool. The main mansion houses an intimate gastronomic restaurant, Notes, a fine dining experience that combines gourmet cuisine and warm hospitality. A fresh, seasonal menu – created according to the hotel vegetable garden – lends pride of place to regional produce from the forests, sea, Cognac distilleries and local farms. The restored distillery building is home to Brasserie des Flâneurs, serving elegant dishes inspired by Chef Anthony Carballo’s childhood memories. Guests can also visit the big names like Hennessy, Rémy Martin and Martell, or journey to Delamain, where hotel guests are offered an exclusive visit to the cellars and a unique dining experience.

Armancette Hôtel, Chalets and Spa is a stunning collection of mountain properties fusing stylish interiors with traditional French charm and hospitality. Comprised of Hotel L’Armancette and three chalets located in the picturesque village of Saint-Nicolas de Véroce, and three standalone chalets in the heart of Chamonix Mont Blanc, guests can unwind in luxury after a busy day of skiing and alpine activities. The collection’s chalets are ideal for family groups with enviable children’s dormitories and amenities. For complete ease the three chalets in Saint-Nicolas de Véroce are ski-in-ski-out and can be fully serviced by the nearby L’Armancette, making full use of its kid’s club. The Chamonix chalets, located 300m from the slopes and a short walk to the town’s lively centre, feature panoramic terraces for summer dining and outdoor Storvatt Nordic baths. The setting of Saint-Nicolas de Véroce is perfect for an off-the-beaten-track authentic mountain experience, conveniently positioned within 450km of ski slopes across the Evasion Mont Blanc ski valley. Chamonix Mont Blanc is famous for its rustic charm, typical of the Savoy mountain region, with kilometres of incredible skiing at the base of Mont Blanc. Both locations also offer incredible summertime alpine activities, from hiking to canyoning and more, making it the perfect year-round destination.

Built in the 15th Century, Palazzo Garzoni  primely located on the Grand Canal, and was home to the aristocrat Piertro Garzoni in the late 17th Century, and most recently housed a prestigious school of art. Its latest renovation into luxury residences was taken with the upmost care, using the expertise of Venetian artisans and craftspeople such as Rubelli, and the finest Italian materials and marble. The residences include the vast Piano Nobile, with five double bedrooms, split over two floors, including spacious living and dining areas with breath-taking balconies and views over the Grand Canal down to Rialto Bridge. The other three residences; Grand Canal, Rialto and Terrazetta, span across the third and fourth floors, housing either four, three or two double rooms, with canal or roof top views and terraces. Each residence offers something different with a variety of stylish, modern furnishings, restored frescos and exposed beams, all with dramatic marble bathrooms. The Palazzo’s positioning in the heart of the city provides the perfect base for guests to live-like-a-local, accessing Venice’s network of canals by gondola or Riva boat from the private pontoon. Ideal for long weekends, celebrations with family and friends or longer tenancies in the city.

Set between forests and streams in the picturesque Chianti hills, Vignamaggio is a historic Tuscan estate with an organic farm and wine cellar that has been in operation for over six centuries. Today, under the careful guidance of owners Patrice Taravella – the visionary behind the celebrated gardens at both South Africa’s Babylonstoren and The Newt in Somerset – and his partner, interior designer Emmanuelle Sébillet, Vignamaggio is being transformed for the modern world through a decade-long project marrying this unique heritage with a contemporary approach. Il Borgo, a 14th-century villa which lay dormant for three decades, has been entirely restored to create a stylish and impressive event venue, and a collection of Tuscan farmhouses across the estate have been meticulously updated to offer the ultimate holiday escape, complete with private pools and jaw-dropping views. Expected to launch for summer 2024 following a near-decade long project, the Renaissance Villa Vignamaggio at the heart of the estate is to be reborn as a 19-suite hotel, while surrounding landscape will be transformed by Patrice Taravella into a garden worthy of its legend, with breathtaking views over vineyards and olive groves.

The remarkable mansion has played host to some of the world’s most brilliant minds in music, literature, art and politics from Napoleon Bonaparte to Bellini to Winston Churchill. Built on land originally owned by Pope Innocent XI, Villa Passalacqua was constructed in the 18th Century by Count Andrea Lucini Passalacqua, who worked with architect Felice Soave and designer Giocondo Albertolli to bring his vision of making one of the largest and most spectacular villas on Lake Como come to life. Sister property to the lake’s Grand Hotel Tremezzo – one of the world’s most iconic hotels – it will offer total privacy and magnificence.

Every single aspect is hand chosen and designed; no suite is the same; frescos have been meticulously restored and secret bars created. The majestic terraced gardens which overlook Lake Como are simply extraordinary with private hideaways and enchanting fountains. They are full of centuries old trees considered some of the most historic, beautiful and well-maintained in all of Italy. The suites will be set within the main historic villa, the Pus Palaz ancient stables and Casa al Lago located right on the lake, and include the largest suite on Lake Como with a double height balustraded music room where Bellini used to play his piano. The bathrooms are extraordinary with sheets of marble personally chosen one by one from caves in Verona; from the Breccia Pontificia also used in The Vatican to the Quatre Saisons that looks more like art than stone. The property will feature a romantic rose garden, a vegetable garden and an antique orchard, stunning swimming pool and lakeside tennis court plus of course a private dock on the lake with hotel vintage boats to sail the lake waters in style. Guests will also benefit from an open air gym in the olive grove, spa treatments in the fruit garden, yoga offered every morning at sunrise and a cinema under the stars. Buxton Crescent

On 1st October 2020, the Buxton Crescent hotel opened its doors following an extensive refurbishment of one of England’s most significant Georgian architectural buildings. This is the first UK property from the Ensana Hotels brand, which is a custodian of European thermal spas utilising powerful natural resources. The hotel opening will revive the wellness traditions of this historic Spa town.

Thanks to The Fifth Duke of Devonshire, who developed the town with grand architecture, the 19th century was a golden age for Buxton when ‘taking the waters’ was a fashionable pastime for notable high-society visitors. Now, guests can experience the therapeutic qualities of the water for themselves as water wellness is at the forefront of Buxton Crescent’s spa offering. The hotel is home to three pools – the Thermal Pool which is a fully refurbished Victorian pool boasting the unique feature of having Buxton mineral rich water flowing into it, which is heated and left chemically untreated; a relaxation pool with an atmospheric dark ceiling pierced with shafts of light and an impressive indoor-outdoor rooftop pool. Signature spa treatments include the Thermal Mud Pack using mineral rich mud sourced from Heviz in Hungary and the Co2 Infusion Mineral Bath. The spa is home to eight treatment rooms, one of which has been custom built for dual treatments. A number of the treatment rooms feature original stained-glass windows.

High up on the edge of The Peak District National Park, Buxton is a gateway to this area of outstanding natural beauty, contrasting rolling farmland, forests and deep valleys with high stony plateaus. The hotel is putting Buxton, a place with a thriving cultural scene, incredible architecture and a hidden historical gem of the UK, firmly back onto the tourist map. The property comprises 81 rooms and suites. Following a multi-million-pound renovation and thanks to significant support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and other stakeholders, it blends the outstanding history of the 18th century exterior and features reminiscent of this era, such as chandeliers, painted ceilings and stained-glass windows complimented with stylish furniture and modern comforts. The rooms are steeped in more than 200 years history, with some of the suites boasting four-poster beds, freestanding baths and views through wooden sash windows over the slate roofs of the historic town.

Launched in 2019, Ensana is the leading health spa brand in Europe. The group currently manages 26 spa hotels across Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and the UK and has a wide collection of spa hotels located in Europe’s most historic spa towns – renowned for their natural healing resources and restorative properties. Time + Tide

International

A collection of remote properties in both Zambia, Cape Town and Madagascar, Time + Tide are the guides and guardians to sublime landscapes, extraordinary wildlife and rich cultures. The collection began with the legendary Norman Carr, father of the walking safari, who paved the way for conservation tourism in Zambia. Meeting Norman decades later, Chris Liebenberg would be moved to continue his legacy of conservation, setting up a camp with his father on the banks of the Chongwe River in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi Valley. Inspired by these people and places, and following a dream to preserve a place by the beach and one in the bush, Thierry Dalais and his family invested in Chris and Norman’s camps. Since then, Time + Tide has ventured to other remote parts of Africa, working with local communities to open up regions to modern-day explorers who share a desire to preserve them. Monaci delle Terre Nere

UK & Europe

Dramatically situated on the slopes of Mount Etna, with views over the volcanic landscape and down to the glittering Mediterranean Sea, Monaci delle Terre Nere sits on an extensive 62-acre country estate planted with organic grapevines, native fruit orchards, and an abundant kitchen garden.  Comprised of a historic 18th century manor house and 24 rooms, suites and villas, Monaci delle Terre Nere is built on the principles of sustainability and slow food, and is the ideal base from which to explore Etna by hike, horse, or helicopter, remaining within easy reach of Taormina, Catania, and the eastern coast of Sicily.  Guido Coffa, the estate’s owner and the visionary behind this impressive project, returned to his birthplace in Sicily to discover the estate and palmento winery.  He decided to bring the estate back to life – a passion project following five years of rescue and renovation from disrepair – to devote himself to sustainable farming and generous hospitality.  His idea was to create an intimate country retreat set deep in pristine natural surroundings, with a spirit of unpretentious, understated luxury.  www.monacidelleterrenere.it/en
