The Westbury, The Doyle Collection’s flagship hotel, is home to one of Ireland’s most extensive and impressive private art collections and works can be spotted throughout the hotels public areas and suites. The hotel has now launched a new Art Trail package, in partnership with the Irish Arts Review to celebrate the collection in the hotel as well as the city of Dublin.

The Westbury has always been renowned for its commitment to supporting the arts and has now partnered with leading Irish art and design publication, The Irish Arts Review to provide guests an exclusive and bespoke experience discovering Dublin’s diverse and visual artworks. The Irish Arts Review has worked alongside Neal Doherty, The Westbury’s art curator and author of book Statues and Sculptures of Dublin City to create the trail that showcases the very best of Dublin’s art scene. The trail spans 100 years of art history from John Lavery’s 1912 oil painting Miss Haslam located in The Westbury’s Gallery to Conor Harrington’s Dead Meat mural from 2012 on Merrion Row.

Dublin has more than 250 pieces of public art and the bespoke art trail has been designed to tell the story behind some of the most fascinating sculptures, inspiring street-art and magnificent galleries. Guests who book The Suite Experience: Art Trail package will enjoy an overnight stay in one of The Westbury’s sumptuous suites surrounded by fine art from The Doyle Collection’s private collection and an indulgent Irish breakfast the following morning. Also included is a private guided tour of the Art Trail with the hotel’s curator, Neal Doherty. During the 90 minute tour, Neal Doherty can tailor the trail to the tastes and interests of the guests, whether that is modern wall art or traditional sculpture, and will share the fascinating stories and secrets of Dublin’s quirky artists and their work. In addition, all guests of the hotel will be presented with a specially designed booklet that tells the unique story about each piece of art and can enjoy the trail at their leisure.

The tour begins at The Westbury itself where guests can see works by the likes of Norah McGuinness, Barrie Cooke, John Lavery, Patrick Scott and Louis Le Brocquy. Then guests will walk around Dublin’s city centre where works from many famous artists are situated. These include Danny Osborne’s memorial to Oscar Wilde, Phil Daly’s statue of Thin Lizzy’s lead singer, Philip Lynott and Henry’s Moore’s Memorial to WB Yeats. The trail will take guests from Dublin’s bustling shopping quarter, Grafton Street to the serene gardens of St Stephen’s Green.

Neal Doherty comments “I am delighted to be part of The Westbury’s new partnership with the Irish Arts Review and to lead the Art Trails for guests of the hotel. It is so exciting to see Dublin emerging as a creative hub, and we have some fascinating public artwork available for all to enjoy. The Westbury has always been renowned as a great supporter of the arts and the new Art Trail is a celebration of this.”

The Doyle Collection is well known for supporting local arts and businesses, whilst showcasing local culture though their ‘Slice of the City’ initiative. Through this, the hotel aims to showcase the destination to guests, rather than just the hotel, through new and interesting cultural experiences and events in the area; from fine art to shopping, gastronomy to exclusive tours. The Art Trails are the latest Slice of the City offering from The Westbury
